Ziggy is a 12yo red ASTCD who looks just like a big teddy bear. He loves a cuddle and it doesn’t bother him that he is over 20kg, he will get right on your lap and snuggle in. He would make a fantastic companion for someone who loves the working breeds, but who cannot commit to the exercise requirements of a younger dog. Don’t get us wrong, the Zigster is still fit and healthy and he loves a bit of a jog around the place, or a nice walk with you, but he also loves to snooze in the sunshine or next to a warm fire. Ziggy has a sense of humour and he is a bit of a thief. His favourite things to steal are empty plant pots and logs out of the wood box! He is social with most other dogs, but is better with bitches and submissive males. He would be fine in a home as the only dog as long as he got to be with his human a lot of the time. Ziggy showed some initial interest in my cat, but copped a smack in the chops for his trouble and he decided it wasn’t worth pursuing, however, if a cat ran, he might pretend to chase it. He doesn’t exhibit a lot of focus on the horses, almost as if he has been around them before. He would probably be a bit too strong for small kids, but OK for older, more robust ones. However, like all Cattle Dogs, you would have to keep in mind that he could be protective of his property and his people. Ziggy has a lot to offer the right person/people who will look after to him properly and the rewards in return would be enormous.
