Ted is people focused and will maintain direct eye contact for long periods (never seen any dog hold eye contact like him, tail wagging the whole time). He will leave food for personal attention.
Ted does get on well with most other dogs, though he does show signs of being dominant in subtle ways, so will need to be introduced to any existing dogs first. However, if his potential new owner has time to spend with Ted would also be fine living as an only dog. Ted is house trained and well behaved in the house. He is happy sitting on the floor close to his carer, or on the couch, he is very affectionate.
Ted would be suited to a home where someone is home through the day and he is incorporated into the family. An active retired person or couple would be ideal. Light to moderate daily walks are required as he is still quite overweight. He does try to pull on the lead but can be easily corrected.
Strong fencing is essential as Ted does barge through gates and doorways if you are not watching him. He has obviously learned this cunning behaviour in a previous home. He is not a jumper but rather goes under or through and gaps. Ted is definitely not suited to rural environments, or anywhere he could possibly have access to livestock. He has not been tested with cats. He will recall reasonably well though I have had him shy away when walking towards him with lead in hand.
Ted has shown no signs of aggression to strangers during his time in care with ACDR, he usually walks up to them with tail wagging. A great Mate for the right home.
