Prepare to be smitten! Loyal and loving, like most Cattle Dogs, Rex is an absolute pleasure to spend time with. His lucky new family is sure to be impressed with this handsome boy. Being a Cattle Dog, he is intelligent and also active. He loves attention and is an affectionate boy indeed.
His new home would preferably be one with knowledge of or experience with cattle dogs. A home where he will be included as part of the family, exercised daily and kept busy (as he is a working breed), is his best match. Rex is not suited to apartment style living.
Rex came into care after being abandoned at a boarding facility by his owner (who sadly failed to ever return for him). Unfortunately this is a common occurrence. But, on the upside, Rex now has a new foster carer and the opportunity to find that perfect family will love him and give him the life he so deserves.
Rex was tested with a few dogs at the shelter and appeared to get along fine with them. His best match would probably be another dog similar in size and energy levels (and maybe a female would be more of a match) or he would also be fine in a single dog home if the family spent time with him. He was tested with Mishka and Candy at the shelter, but he gets on fabulously with the other foster dog in his foster home “Tinny” who is a young male ASTCD. Of course any potential new fur brother or sister would need to meet Rex to see how they get along. Rex is not recommended for a home which has cats and he would need to be closely supervised with livestock. Rex has met some young children and when they were gentle with him, he enjoyed their company.
